2017 - 2024

The Sykes Lab was focused on many projects around hematopoiesis and how the normal pathways of blood cell development go awry in the setting of leukemia, other cancers, and infections.

We took a special
interest in rare inherited and acquired disorders of myeloid biology (those problems of neutrophils and macrophages) as well as a special interest in solid organ malignancies that metastasize and infiltrate the bone marrow (e.g., prostate cancer, neuroblastoma).

Publications

We were located within the Center for Regenerative Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital
.

The lab closed in December 2024.

David remains committed to understanding the pathophysiology of the
TEMPI syndrome, an ultra-rare plasma cell disease (see separate page).
